I have one further question: I get an error when trying to import entries from an old guestbook (Error: "This plugin does not support compressed imports!" ). I am happy to manually create each one in phpMyAdmin, but the only way I can get them to display is if I create a copy of an entry from the new guestbook and then write over the exisiting info. Do you see any problems with doing that, and if not, how to I get the date to change on the front end?

Thank you!

Hi Connie.

Here you can find a tutorial to transfer entries from another guestbook to the myPHP Guestbook under phpMyAdmin.

To display the date in the entries in us-format, open the admin panel of the myPHP Guestbook, click on the link "General Configuration", change the setting at the first place under "Current language setting: English. National flag: ..." to the US flag via drop-down menu, save this setting by clicking on the corresponding button, done.

[zitat=Connie schrieb am 05.08.2023 | 20:40]Installation questions

Hello!

I mainly develop websites using WordPress, but there is one site I like to maintain in static HTML (it's also the first site I ever built). There is an old guestbook script on there now, and I would like to use yours instead (thank you for offering it!).

I first tried uploading the zipped (myPHP_Guestbook and include_myPHP_Guestbook_4.10.9) files and running install url, but that returns a 404 error. I then deleted the zipped files and uploaded unzipped files and tried running install again, but I got the same 404 error.

I would be most grateful for any suggestions you have for how to make the guestbook work on my site.

Thank you,
Connie[comment]Hi Connie,

you have to upload the unzipped files.

HTTP 404 not found or 404 error is a standard HTTP code that indicates that the browser could not find the requested information or accessed page. So the path (URL) you entered in the browser to call the installation page is not correct.
Check this path.

We should clarify further questions by e-mail.

Kind regards
Wolfgang[/comment][/zitat]Success!! You were right...it was all because of the file path. I haven't linked to the new guestbook yet; I want to add the entries from the old one first.

Thank you so much for you help and your expertise!
